Ultrasound Diagnostics &
Guided Injections

At St Luke’s Radiology, we have a purpose-built ultrasound room with state of the art ultrasound equipment. We offer a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for disorders of the musculoskeletal system.

Ultrasound services

Our new General Electric E10 ultrasound machine incorporates equipment to fuse images with MRI examinations. This allows us to guide injections using a combination of ultrasound and any previous MRI examination that the patient may have undergone. This makes injections easier, faster, and more accurate and avoids the need for the radiation associated with x-ray or CT guided methods. Ultrasound scanning is non-invasive, similar to that used on pregnant women to scan their babies.

This form of scanning is used for diagnosing certain musculoskeletal disorders and, if clinically necessary, for injecting the patient for any particular disorder discovered during the ultrasound scan. Procedures are undertaken by specialist consultant musculoskeletal radiologists and the report is available in a secure online format with easy access to the images for the referring clinician.
